OKAY story time children.

Let me just take a minute to talk about this scene. There aren’t enough gifsets made about this moment, and this is a good example of both parties, so this is the one I’ll use for illustration.

Fandral cries out “don’t let them touch your skin!” right after he gets grabbed and his armor freezes and falls away, and he becomes horrifically frostbitten. The Jotun obviously know they can do this, because surely they’ve done it before in past wars, so it’s no shock to them but LOOK AT THE FACE OF THAT JOTUN. LOOK. Right after Fandral screams that, the Jotun grabs Loki’s arm and freezes his armor off, but his skin doesn’t turn black and blister it just starts tuRNING BLUE. AND LOKI IS FINE. AND THAT JOTUN IS LIKE “dude what the fuck kind of Helspawn are you.”

And Loki looks just as surprised. No, he looks horrified. He is horrified. He’s like “what the fuck kind of Helspawn AM I???” and he just looks around like, “what’s this what’s going on what’s happening am I on drugs??? please let me be on drugs because this can’t be real, this isn’t right.” and the Jotun starts piecing things together. Maybe not that Loki is Laufey’s bastard runt and their abandoned prince, but he’s certainly piecing something together. Loki realizes this, and he also realizes that this CAN NOT get out. People CAN NOT know. Whatever’s wrong with him, it’s something that no one else can know. Not even Thor - especially Thor.

So he stabs the Jotun and tries to hide his shell-shocked state, because this isn’t the time or place, and he’ll figure things out once they’re back in Asgard. His home. His birthplace, right? Surely Odin will know what’s wrong. Odin will help him. His father will help him, like he always has. Right??

I absolutely hate how he doesn’t even try to move away or defend himself, not even with words. He just stands there and waits as tears build in his eyes, and it kills me on the inside. Fuck the Chitauri for whatever the hell it was they had been doing to him all that time.

That second gif, he totally doesn’t even attempt to move or even flinch. I never noticed that before. They were so torturing him or some shit and he looks like he was used to it.
